The museum of the city of Füssen
The museum of the town of Füssen is located in the former Benedictine monastery of St. Mang and offers you a fascinating insight into the rich history and culture of Füssen. Here you can immerse yourself in the past and learn more about the eventful history of Füssen and its surroundings. The museum presents an impressive collection that ranges from Roman times to the Middle Ages and modern times. Particularly noteworthy are the precious historical musical instruments, which shed new light on Füssen as a former metropolis of lute and violin making. Discover artfully crafted lutes, violins and other instruments that bear witness to the master craftsmanship of past centuries.
Exhibition focus
Another highlight is the section on the history of the monastery and the work of St. Magnus, the patron saint of Füssen. In the historic monastery rooms, you can admire an impressive collection of sacred works of art that illustrate the spiritual and cultural significance of the monastery. The museum of the city of Füssen also offers you changing special exhibitions that take up and explore a wide variety of topics from art and history. The rest of the building houses the Füssen town council offices.
The museum is open:
- April to October: Tuesday to Sunday from 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
- November to March: Friday to Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Tickets are available directly from the museum ticket office.
- Adults 6.00 EUR
- Reduced 5.00 EUR (e.g. with FüssenCard, groups of 10 or more, senior citizens, severely disabled persons)
- Combined ticket for museums 9.00 EUR (Museum of the City of Füssen and State and Picture Gallery in the High Castle)
Children and young people under the age of 18 and school classes have free admission.
