Healthy Allgäu nature
In the southern Allgäu, on the border with neighboring Tyrol, lies Füssen and its districts: a place full of natural beauty, cultural wealth and a unique mix of relaxation and activities.
Let yourself be enchanted by this charming small town with around 15,000 inhabitants and its surroundings - impressive mountains, glittering lakes, a healthy healing climate and numerous opportunities to unwind or experience exciting adventures await you here!
Majestic peaks and gentle heights
Füssen lies at the foot of three impressive mountain ranges: the Ammergau Alps, the Allgäu Alps and the Tannheim Mountains. These majestic mountains form a breathtaking backdrop for hikes, climbing tours and panoramic views.
The nearby Säuling (2,047 m) is affectionately known as the "Guardian of the Allgäu". From here, you can enjoy an incomparable view across the Alpine foothills to the lakes. But you have to be a bit of a summiteer to climb this mountain.
The Tegelberg (1,881 m) is not only a hang-gliding and paragliding center, but thanks to the Tegelbergbahn cable car and its summer toboggan run, it is also an attraction for families and anyone who wants to catch a glimpse of the summit in comfort and effortlessly.
The Calvary (953 m) invites you to relax away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy unforgettable panoramic views.
Lakes...
Füssen is surrounded by a number of idyllic lakes that are waiting to be explored:
- Forggensee (15.2 km²): The largest reservoir in Germany and a paradise for water sports enthusiasts and sailors.
- Hopfensee (2.1 km²): The "Allgäu Riviera" with its promenade invites you to stroll and enjoy.
- Faulenbach Lakes: In the middle of the "Valley of the Senses" are the Obersee and Mittersee lakes, which invite you to relax.
- Weißensee (1.35 km²): Surrounded by gentle hills, a peaceful retreat.
- Alatsee: Mysterious and mystical - ideal for hikers.
Whether swimming, hiking, boating or simply enjoying the view, these lakes offer unforgettable experiences at any time of year.
The Lech...
The turquoise blue water, fed by glacial melt and mountain streams, runs like a glittering ribbon through Füssen and the landscape, offering you numerous opportunities to experience nature up close.
A special highlight awaits you just a few minutes from Füssen's old town: the Lech Falls. Here, the river thunders over a barrage into a narrow gorge, framed by steep rock faces. From the historic König-Max-Steg bridge, you have a unique view of the spectacle. The Lech Falls are not only a natural monument, but also a perfect place to feel the power of the river.
The Lech is not only a wild river, but also a valuable habitat. Rare animals such as the sandpiper and plants such as the German gentian find ideal conditions here.
The Lech is more than just a river - it is an experience. Whether you explore its wild side or enjoy its quiet sections at Forggensee: The Lech will inspire you and awaken your love of nature.
