The Museum of the Bavarian Kings, idyllically situated on the banks of the Alpsee, invites you on a fascinating journey through the history of the House of Wittelsbach. In the immediate vicinity of the world-famous royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, the museum offers unique insights into the life and work of the Bavarian royal family.

The modern museum delights visitors with an impressive exhibition that includes numerous original exhibits, historical documents and magnificent works of art. From King Ludwig II, the builder of Neuschwanstein, to the other members of the Wittelsbach dynasty - here you can learn all about their visions, their work and their influence on Bavaria and beyond. A special highlight of the museum is the multimedia presentation, which brings the history of the Bavarian kings to life. Interactive stations and audiovisual presentations offer you an exciting and informative journey through the centuries.

Exhibits
Im Fokus des Bildes ist ein goldener Löwe zu sehen, der eine Krone trägt und ein Schild hält. Der Löwe steht auf dem Dach eines Turmes. Alles ist aus Gold. Bei dem Stück handelt es sich möglicherweise um eine Ausstellungsstück in einem Museum. Im Hintergrund sind weitere goldene Gegenstände sichtbar doch nur schwer zu erkennen.
King's cloak
Im Fokus des Bildes steht ein blau grüner Samtumhang, dessen Ränder mit Hermelinbesatz ausgestattet sind. Den Umhang trägt eine lebensgroße Puppe. Der Umhang steht hinter Glas in einer Vitrine und ist rundum beleuchtet.
Main entrance
Das Bild zeigt einen großen, weißen Gebäudekomplex mit einer herausragenden Glasfassade. Das Gebäude ist mit einer Reihe von Bögen und Säulen verziert, was ihm einen Hauch von architektonischer Eleganz verleiht. Die Fassade wird von mehreren Fenstern unterbrochen, die von weißen Rolläden gerahmt sind.

The museum is open daily from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm.

Tickets are available online or directly at the museum box office.

  • Adults 14.00 EUR
  • Reduced 13.00 EUR (students, senior citizens aged 65 and over, severely disabled persons, holders of a guest card from the district of OAL)
  • Combined tickets for the royal castles and museum from 30.00 EUR

    Children and young people under the age of 18 have free admission.
    The museum is a partner of the KönigsCard.
