Nature biking in the Allgäu

Pleasure mountain biking in a royal landscape

If you appreciate moderate altitude challenges, predominantly forest and alpine paths as a route profile and, above all, fantastic panoramas, you are in the right place as a pleasure mountain biker in Füssen in the Allgäu. Of course, the tours are still sporty!

Nature biking Allgäu / Tyrol

As a highlight offer for pleasure mountain bikers, the Interreg project "Naturbiken Allgäu / Tirol" connects the Allgäu along the Alps from west to east.

Under the motto "Easy trails and gentle mountains", a signposted top route runs from Wangen in the Württemberg Allgäu to Oberjoch on technically easy trails. In Oberjoch, you can choose between the southern route through the Tannheimer Tal to the Lechtal or the northern route via Füssen to Reutte.

Thanks to the good public transport connections, the return journey to the starting point is guaranteed even if you try out individual sections of the route.

Easy paths and gentle mountains

As part of "Naturbiken Allgäu / Tirol", a total of 22 individual circular tours have been designed and individually signposted along the entire route in addition to the long-distance routes. The tour from Füssen to the Vilser Alm is signposted. With a total of almost 30 kilometers and around 600 meters in altitude, the rustic hut awaits at the halfway point, but at the highest point of the tour.

Helpful information

for your nature bike trip

More and more cyclists are using (e-)mountain bikes and exploring not only cycle paths in the valley, but also mountain regions and alpine pastures. In doing so, they enter particularly sensitive natural areas whose unique flora and fauna must be protected through considerate behavior.

The "Naturbiken Allgäu/Tirol" project provides some tips for this.

The white and green cycle route signs will guide you safely to your destination on your bike. If you are on a nature bike route, you only need to pay attention to the trail markers (and intermediate signposts) and thus always stay on the right path with your mountain bike. This system is standardized throughout the region.

A mountain bike tour includes ascents and descents. The ascent requires leg strength and fitness, the descent high control over the bike, a good braking technique and corresponding strength in the fingers. Please do not underestimate these requirements.
