Füssen and its "suburbs"
Füssen, located in the very south of Bavaria, is situated in the picturesque Allgäu region right on the border with its Tyrolean neighbor in Austria.
The historic old town and the extensive urban area are complemented by the districts of Bad Faulenbach, Hopfen am See and Weißensee, all of which are surrounded by the impressive natural scenery of the Ammergau and Tannheim Alps.
Around the romantic old town
Simply breathtaking! Looking over the rooftops of the picturesque town, you feel like you've been transported back to the Middle Ages. The majestic High Castle, the Füssen Town Museum and the former Benedictine monastery of St. Mang rise high up on the ridge, bringing the history of Füssen to life.
Füssen - Bad Faulenbach
The Füssen district of Bad Faulenbach is known as a mineral and mud spa and Kneipp health resort. The six Faulenbach lakes are strung together like pearls in the predominantly car-free valley, with the idyllic Alatsee forming the end of the Faulenbach valley. The surrounding area is perfect for relaxing walks and time out in nature.
Hopfen am See
Hopfen am See, a recognized Kneipp and climatic health resort, is affectionately known as the "Allgäu Riviera". A walk along the picturesque lakeside promenade of the Hopfensee opens up spectacular panoramic views of the majestic mountains of the Ammergau, Lechtal and Allgäu Alps.
Weißensee
The climatic health resort of Weißensee is idyllically nestled between rolling hills, green meadows and imposing mountains on the shores of the lake of the same name, not far from the Alatsee.
The name "Weißensee" probably comes from the whitish shimmering limestone that is deposited in the depths of the lake ...
