The Via Claudia Augusta is also a popular long-distance hiking trail for hikers . Just like the Romans, it crosses the Alps on foot - through a colorful variety of natural and cultural landscapes. 29 daily stages, each with approx. 4-6 hours of walking, cover approx. 600 km from Landsberg am Lech to Cison di Valmarino.
Cycling:
If you are planning a relatively easy way to cross the Alps by bike , the Via Claudia Augusta long-distance cycle route is a good option. You can easily cross the passes towards Italy using the cycle shuttles that have been set up. The route covers around 700 km from Donauwörth over the Alps to Altino near Venice or alternatively to Ostiglia on the Po. In Füssen, you can get a taste of the Via Claudia on one stage.

The Lake Constance-Königssee cycle path runs almost parallel to the German Alpine Road. The Alpine chain is also your constant companion when cycling.

If you want to take even more time for romance, you can also hike almost 500 kilometers from Würzburg to Füssen. The Romantic Road long-distance hiking trail is designed for true connoisseurs. It leads as close to nature as possible through forests and fields, but also through every old town to experience culture and history. The many alleyways and nooks and crannies create a particularly romantic atmosphere.
Cycling:
Known as the D9 "Romantic Road" long-distance cycle route, the cycle tour from Würzburg to Füssen does not require the well-trained calves of a professional cyclist. There are no long climbs or anything similarly sweat-inducing on the 460-kilometer route. It only gets a little hillier in Pfaffenwinkel.
